Build it and they will come

By Bill Grubb Source: The Rogersville Review http://therogersvillereview.com/story/9532 ROGERSVILLE — Barring an unforeseen delay, the Hawkins County Industrial Board plans to be opening bids for a new recruiting tool, a speculative building, by the end of March. The shell building will be located in the Phipps Bend Industrial Park and has been in the discussion stage for several years. According to Industrial Developer Lynn Lawson, a final meeting was scheduled this week with the engineering firm of Mattern & Craig to review plans for the project. “The building committee needs to look at everything one final time and then we should be ready to put it out for bids,” Lawson said during Thursday’s board meeting. The developer said allowing 45 days for the bidding process would allow the board to accept or reject bids at the regularly scheduled March 26 board meeting. The building will be funded with a combination of grants and a Tennessee Valley Authority loan, with the loan to be repaid when the building is sold. During previous discussions board members have agreed a vacant building is a valuable recruiting tool.
